The summer is here and a new line of accessories are needed. The winter required you to own at least one toque, a woolly scarf and some sort of gloves to keep your hands warm. But it’s time to put all of that away and go out and get yourself a few summer necessities.
1. The cap:
Summer hats range from baseball hats (for the jock), the flat cap (for the hipster), or fedoras (for the fashion forward). A hat can make all the difference to your outfit. They can add that necessary piece of personality to make a statement out of an outfit consisting of plain jeans and a white t-shirt.
2. The bracelets:
Get ready for your ultimate summer, casual look with a few cool stringy bracelets. Popular materials are leather, string, and some metal. A tanned arm suits silver very well. A lot of these tend to get picked up on vacations, so in some ways your wrist is like a token to all of the fun you’ve had all summer long.
3. The scarf:
Light fabric, printed scarves are super cool for the summer. They work really well with v-neck t-shirts, shorts or jeans and a pair of espadrilles. Throw on a pair of shades and some nice smelling cologne and you’re golden.
4. The shades:
Sunglasses can make any outfit. Although very useful, they give that perfect effortlessly cool look. They are the one accessory you actually need after a big night out. They allow you to go out and face the world without really facing it. The best part about shades is that you can rock a designer pair, or just a fun knock off from an inexpensive store- either way you can make the look yours.
5. The tie:
Forget about dark colours and patternless styles, summer ties are about brights and prints. Throw a loosely knotted tie over your white shirt (with the top button undone of course) and a pair of khaki shorts and achieve the ultimate informal summer look. For a splash of formality or sparkle pin your tie with a clip.
6. The bag:
Choosing a bag to go with your summer look can be difficult. Men sporting bags are brave enough, but at least in the colder months they can throw them over a coat or big sweater. When your look is already minimalist it can be difficult to incorporate that extra accessory. The trick is to find something that’s very lightweight. Whether that be a camera case, a nylon knapsack or something that resembles a gym bag, the objective is summer chic.
